Part 10 of 15

Motion sensor (PIR)

Motion sensor (PIR)

Sees if someone is moving

In your kit: 1×

🔎 What is it?

A PIR sensor senses the warmth of people and animals. Is something warm moving in front of the sensor? Then its output becomes HIGH. This is how lights work that turn on by themselves when you walk by.

🔌 This is how you connect it

  • OUT to a pin, for example D2
  • VCC to 5V
  • GND to GND

✨ What can you do with it?

  • A burglar alarm
  • A light that turns on when you come in
  • Count how often someone walks by

💡 Tip

After starting up, the sensor needs a few seconds to get used to the room. Stand still for a moment.
